Operation Halloween Gratitude

The best use of leftover Halloween candy

A Sweet Effort - Candy for the Troops

What to do with all the post-Halloween candy? We wanted to make good use of that candy that doesn't end up with kids sick on sugar. So we bought the candy from kids and shipped them to U.S. service men and women through Operation Gratitude.

Operation Gratitude is a non-profit that annually sends 250,000+ care packages filled with snacks, entertainment, hygiene products, handmade items, plus personal letters of appreciation to new recruits, veterans, first responders, U.S. service members deployed overseas, wounded heroes and their caregivers.

Since 2003 Operation Gratitude volunteers have shipped more than 1,500,000 care packages.

89lbs of thank you!

A big thanks to Lisa O'Brien Adams and friends! She was the major force behind making this effort a success. All together Lisa, her children Zack and Samantha and their friends from the Kingsbridge Shores and Indian Brook community brought in a whooping 89lbs of candy!
